LLC is very active in the publication of new Lakota language materials, reprinting a number of materials, and completing much of the preliminary work on the Student Dictionary.
• In July 2006, the LLC picture books, “Prairie Dog Goes to School” and “The Buffalo and the Boat” were reprinted and are now available at a reduced price.
• Also the Level 1 Textbook is currently being reprinted with some slight modifications. Updated copies will be available in January 2007.
• LLC will be formally implementing its classroom assessment protocol for affiliate schools as a web-based multimedia test beginning in January 2007. For more information contact assessment@lakhota.org.
• The forthcoming Lakota-English / English-Lakota Student Dictionary continues to make significant progress. The 14,000-entry Lakota-English portion of the dictionary will be completed by the end of the year. The English-Lakota portion of the dictionary is expected to take another 5-6 months. Publication is currently scheduled for summer 2007.
