Thanks to Our Donors

LLC supporters had a lot to celebrate in 2010,   But financial contributions of all sizes power the whole LLC mission. So here is a brief on the variety of support out there for the Lakota language:

Individuals who donated to LLC in 2010 have included Dr. & Mrs. Oliver Jones of La Jolla, CA; Kristin Herold of Karlsruhe, Germany; and Marco Massignan of Cureggio, Italy.  Mr. Massignan has been a student of Lakota and other Native American cultures and languages for many years.  In addition, several supporters responded to our 2010 year-end appeal with small but deeply-felt donations that prove their commitment to seeing the language survive.

Foundations that have stepped up to support Lakota language revitalization include the Ruth Danley & William Enoch Moore Fund, the Sidney Stern Family Foundation, and the Dakota Indian Foundation.   DIF generously supported the beginning stages of our planned documentary film about Native language revitalization.  The AMB Foundation came through with support for the Level 4 textbook project, now in development.

Corporations who give are what we call our “Corporate Community.” In 2010, Lakota Herbs of Dawson Creek, BC Canada, and Sioux Chief Manufacturing of Peculiar, MO have joined Tatonka Gmbh of Dasing, Germany, in our “Corporate Community.”
